We are the University High School (Tucson, AZ) VEX Robotics club—20 highly motivated students who design and build aluminum robots to compete against other teams at robotics competitions around the world. We meet after school for 2 hours twice a week to work on the robotics together throughout the school year. We welcome anyone interested robotics and STEM to join our club. Our members come from all grade levels, ethnicities, genders, and many new members join each year. Due to our large club size, we comprise 3 separate teams that each compete in the Vex Robotics Competition (VRC). VRC involves teams competing to design and build robots, continuously iterating to produce the best solution to a yearly challenge. Vex robotics has taught us numerous skills, including computer aided design, programming in C++, rapid prototyping, and especially the iterative design process.
